Resident Visas

New Zealand offers a unique combination of world-class education, picturesque natural landscapes, and a dynamic, globally connected community. A residence visa allows individuals to live, work, and study in a country indefinitely while enjoying various rights and benefits, such as access to healthcare and social services.

These visas are typically granted based on different categories, including skilled migration, family sponsorship, investment, and entrepreneurship. Each category has specific eligibility requirements, such as work experience, qualifications, financial investment, or family ties. Obtaining a residence visa is often a significant step toward permanent settlement and, in some cases, eventual pathway to citizenship.

Skilled Migrant

New Zealand is an excellent choice for those seeking permanent residency, offering a high quality of life, breathtaking landscapes, and a strong economy. The country provides various resident visa options for skilled professionals, entrepreneurs, investors, and family members of New Zealand citizens or residents. With a resident visa, you can live, work, and study in New Zealand indefinitely while enjoying access to healthcare and social services.

One prominent pathway to residency is the Skilled Migrant Category Resident Visa, designed to support economic growth by attracting individuals with in-demand skills and qualifications. Applicants must submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) to Immigration New Zealand, demonstrating their eligibility under a points-based system.

Green List

Professionals who have relevant experience, qualifications, and expertise in in-demand fields may qualify for one of New Zealand’s expedited residency pathways under the Green List. This list comprises occupations considered crucial for the nation's economic growth and is divided into Tier 1 and Tier 2 categories.

Tier-1 Green List: Straight to Residence

This pathway allows eligible applicants to apply for residency immediately if they meet the criteria for a Tier 1 occupation, including securing a job offer from an Accredited Employer in New Zealand. This visa grants the ability to live, work, and study in New Zealand indefinitely, with the option to include a partner and dependent children in the application.

Tier-2 Green List: Work to Residence

This pathway requires candidates to have at least two years of experience working in New Zealand in a Tier 2 occupation, along with a job offer or current employment with an Accredited Employer. Successful applicants can also live, work, and study in New Zealand indefinitely and include their family members in the application.

Partnership Visa

The Partner of New Zealander Residence Visa is designed for non-New Zealand citizens or residents who are in a genuine, stable, and committed relationship with a New Zealand citizen or resident. This visa enables individuals to apply for residence in New Zealand, allowing them to live and settle in the country with their partner. To qualify, couples must demonstrate that they have been living together in a genuine relationship for at least 12 months.

This visa acknowledges the importance of close personal relationships and provides a pathway for partners to join their loved ones in New Zealand. It offers both the opportunity for residence and the chance to establish a life together in the country, benefiting from all the rights and privileges that come with being a resident.

Parent Category

The Parent Residence Visa allows parents of New Zealand citizens or residents to live in New Zealand indefinitely. It aims to reunite families by enabling parents to join their children and enjoy the benefits of life in the country.

Please note, the application process is two-stage: first, you must submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) when you are eligible. If your EOI is selected, you will receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) and can then proceed with the residence visa application.

Parent Retirement Category

The Parent Retirement Residence Visa enables parents of New Zealand citizens or residents to live in New Zealand, provided they meet specific investment and income criteria. This fast-track visa category allows parents to join their adult children in New Zealand by committing to substantial investments over a four-year period.

Applicants must demonstrate a minimum investment of NZD 1 million for at least four years, along with at least NZD 500,000 in available assets to support their initial settlement costs. Additionally, they must show an annual income of at least NZD 60,000 to ensure financial independence.

The parent(s) must have at least one child living permanently in New Zealand and should not have any dependent children. This visa offers a pathway for parents to reunite with their children in New Zealand while contributing economically.
